The course is taught by you logging onto the internet and then interactively following the Power Point lectures on my screen as I describe the content of the text or graphic of the slide.
Reading assignments for class will be from either the two textbooks and research papers of peer-reviewed articles. Once a week at an agreed-upon time, we will all meet for about 90 minutes to cover the material for that class. A course schedule will be posted in the Calendar. Sometime after the class you will take a multiple choice quiz in order to assess your understanding of the subject. A passing score is 70% or above. Be sure to note the incorrect answers and reread the material that was mistaken. If you are still having problems understanding the correctness of an answer, then we will discuss that question during the next discussion period. It is normal to sometimes have to seek out another source for understanding the reasoning behind the indicated answer. Please forewarn me about the problem prior to class.
Instructions for using Skype with FreeSee.
Download the program for using Skype. There is no need to download FreeSee which is a component of Freeconferenceing.com as you are simply dialing into my host account. Skype allows you to test your microphone, headphones and webcam to establish that these function properly. There are commercially available web conferencing software sites, but they are expensive, and this combination provides free, long distance calls where you see what I put up on my screen from almost anywhere in the world. I've been successfully using this system for 2 years now and have had students from Israel, Bogata and Athens without too much of a problem except during the uprising in Egypt which affected the net for only a day for particular areas of Europe.
1. Bring up Skype and add the contact: freeconferenceing.0075. Click on make Call. A screen called the dashboard will appear. Enter the participant access code by first clicking on the keypad icon on the bottom row of icons. The access code is 128471#. Click on the digits of the dial pad, ending the sequence of digits with the number sign. In order for this to work I must have entered in a confidential host code.
2. Connect into the conference by first minimizing Skype, bring up your browser and enter the following url:http://www.freesee.com/meetings/389-607-783. On the next page fill out your name and email address in the Join Meeting box. Click on the Join Meeting button. The meeting ID is 389-607-783. You should now be connected.
